EB House Labretreat 2020
Like so many other events, Covid-19 also influenced this year's labretreat of the EB House research unit (November 25-26, 2020). The switch to an online format was unusual, but was well received by all.
At the start of the event, three lectures were given on keratinocyte differentiation, wound healing and data integrity. These served to refresh familiar topics, as well as convey new knowledge on the current state of the field. Researchers then presented selected projects and the progress in each. In the afternoon, small groups worked on “elevator pitches” (short, enticing, and persuasive project overviews intended to appeal to potential funders) of new projects. These were then presented the next day and discussed among the entire team.
To loosen up and to strengthen the team spirit, teams of 5-6 researchers each took part in a virtual escape room challenge. Solving the tricky puzzles required good communication and efficient team work.
Although a personal exchange was not possible this year, we had the opportunity to have many valuable discussions, identify areas of collaboration, and come up with new ideas for our work. We are excited to push some these forward in the coming research year!
